this is a sponsored video, but all opinions are my own
i have an obsession with going to the grocery store.
i don’t mind going, never have. i remember when i was little it used to almost be a special thing to do with my mom. she would oftentimes only take one of us kids with her, and i always jockeyed to go. so when the new mariano’s opened in chicago and i heard rumors about it, i jumped in my car on a saturday morning and headed that way.
holy guacamole, it did not disappoint. it isn’t even fair to call it a grocery store – it’s an entire experience all on its own. you could take me on a first date there and i’d probably fall in love with you.
there is a CHEESE ROOM. an entire room dedicated to one of life’s greatest pleasures. i’m pretty sure i had the exact same look on my face as i did when i walked into disney world for the first time.
the bakery is like a carnival. it’s insanity.
also, there’s a bar. a wine bar. hello, nirvana.
speaking of life’s greatest gift to me, CHECK OUT THIS WALL OF WINE. i’ll take two of each please. hand me a glass.
anywhoooo if you live in chicago – go check it out. you’ll be ruined for all other grocery stores in the future.
they also made this handy this video about another one of my favorite things, olive oil. with the chef from my of my favorite restaurants, piccolo sogno. if you live in chicago, this spring go to the one in the west loop. order pasta, any pasta. welcome to nirvana.
