One of the worst things that could have ever happened to me happened to me.
(if you think i’m serious, i don’t know if this is going to work out between us…).
You know how life comes down to timing and luck? (for those who lack talent and strategic planning skills) – well apparently timing and luck are not friends of mine.
For those of you who don’t know, I worship Martha stewart. Like – she’s Martha freaking stewart. There is no other Martha. There is one and she is her. The rest of you are just posers. There is nothing the woman can’t do. And with grace and ease. Even her voice is calming to me. I mean I know she had that brief staycation in prison but look, we’ve all made mistakes. I once accidentally stole a plastic ring from a store in Canada – so who am I to judge?
Anywho I was in Miami this past weekend and the south beach wine and food festival was going on. For non food-obsessed people, SOBE WFF is this major food festival where all these brands and restaurants have booths and events and food network chefs are hosts. It’s like Disney world for foodies. So I’m on a run on the boardwalk one morning and all of these people are crowded outside the gates at the loew’s hotel – so naturally I stop and ask what’s going on. The today show is filming and al roker is out there with Geoffrey Zakarin and a judge from chopped and I’m all pumped because this is pretty cool.
And then it happens. The guy on my left goes…”Martha stewart was just out here too.”
And just like that ladies and gentlemen, a simple girl from Indiana watches all of her hopes and dreams get crushed.
And then this kind gentlemen looks at me and goes – “yeah she was right here. You literally just missed her.” – would you like to salt to rub into my wounds as well, sir?
